Wyndbourne Cottage is conveniently located at Penneshaw, near the Kangaroo Island Sealink ferry terminal, Christmas Cove boat ramp and marina, and the Kangaroo Island Gateway Visitor Information Centre.

Little penguins nest along the foreshore in front of the cottage, and nocturnal penguin tours are conducted each evening at the Penneshaw Penguin Centre.

The Penneshaw township has a convenient range of shops, including small supermarket, service station, cafés, hotel, pub, post office and business centre with Internet access.

Sunset Winery is 5 minutes drive away with Dudley Wines Cellar Door and café 30 minutes away.
