The Port Pirie Regional Tourism & Arts Centre is the first port of call when visiting the Southern Flinders Ranges. This award-winning nationally accredited visitor information centre offers a range of tours and attractions. Tours are available through the Nyrstar Port Pirie Smelter, the world’s largest primary lead smelter. Pirie Rail Express Miniature Railway and Pirie Model Railway are a highlight for train enthusiasts. There is also an exhibition featuring Shakka, the longest white pointer shark landed in South Australian waters at 5.5 metres in length. Add the outstanding Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery, Stateliner bus terminal and interpretive artworks and you have a centre that should not be missed. The Centre is serviced by passionate volunteers who willingly donate their time to promote their beloved hometown.
