Penny’s Hill & Mr. Riggs Cellars is a modern, boutique winery located half way between McLaren Vale and Willunga on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula. The limestone walls and the elegant two-story Georgian house that has long been a district landmark, easily identify the property; "Ingleburne". At the back of the house lies the Cellars, restaurant and gallery complex on the site of what was once a thriving mixed farm.

Come inside our ‘galvanized’ building and taste our extensive range of award-winning Penny’s Hill, Mr. Riggs and The Black Chook premium wines, all made since inception by well known winemaker Ben Riggs.

Browse our gallery of constantly changing Australian artworks or walk the expansive grounds. Residing in the 100-year old chook shed, our Rhode Island Red 'chooks' are key members of the Penny's Hill team. Entertaining visitors, the chooks also take very seriously their self-appointed role of keeping the property clear of food scraps. Black-faced Suffolk sheep graze in the lush grass beside the cellars. They are permanently relaxed, eyeing off visitors being perhaps the most energetic pursuit they undertake. If you visit us during lambing season - you may even see a new addition or two. And there's 'Chook Cat', a recent addition so named when she decided to take up residency in the tree inside the chook house once weened from her mother. 'Chook Cat' lives happily side by side with the chooks and her daily pastimes include stretching out in the sun.

Why not stay the night in our 1850s homestead that sleeps 8 or linger over a meal in our award winning restaurant, The Kitchen Door. Our acclaimed restaurant, embraces the honest simplicity of local and seasonal produce, while maintaining a creative edge. Head Chef Ben Sommariva and his dedicated team are sharing their unbridled passion for regional food, enthusiasm for our wines and attention to personalised service with a growing number of very satisfied visitors, many of whom enjoy the surprises of an ever changing tasting menu. After only four years in action, the team at Penny's Hill was awarded the national Restaurant & Catering Awards title of "Best Restaurant in a Winery" in 2007.
